Charting the Subway: The Price of a Swipe

With the cost of many everyday items slowly creeping up, I was curious to understand how the price of a subway ride has increased over time. I discovered that in inflation-adjusted dollars a subway ride is 80% more than it was in 1913. That might sound like a lot but in 1913 the train lines weren't as connected as they are today AND they didn't have air conditioning.
